Capoeira

Capoeira is an exotic mix of martial arts, dance and music. As it gains more and more popularity throughout the world there is a greater demand for clothing, instruments and other instructional items. We're proud to be the first shop in Colorado Springs to offer these hard-to-find products. We've spent years developing reliable contacts in Brazil and are now one of the only retail locations in the nation with such a wide selection of capoeira products.

Berimbaus

The berimbau is a bow shaped instrument with a gourd resonator that sets the tone and rhythm of the capoeira game. You should never buy a berimbau without first playing it yourself. You can do that at The Dancewear Shop. Our berimbaus come complete with baquetas and caxixis. Whether you're a capoeirista, or a percussionist or musician looking for something new, you need to check out our selection of berimbaus.

Pants (Abadas)

Good training pants are a must for the serious capoeirista. Our capoeira pants, known as abadas, are made from a unique double-knit polyester, the traditional material used in Brazil. We sell both white training pants, and colored "street" abadas. Stop by and try them on. We know you'll love them!

Pandeiros

The pandeiro is a traditional skin tamborine with a tunable rim. It is a key part of the capoeira ensemble and is often used in samba and pagode music as well. Don't rely on the cheaply-made, over-priced thin skin tamborines you find at music stores and many online shops. We have high-quality hand percussion instruments at lower prices than these lower-quality items. Come by and test them for yourself.
